Oh Irene!

Well aren't you a mighty wind bag! This hurricane has been quite a pain in the everyday travelers "Derriere". As we see in the news approximately 20 people are left dead through this whole thing! Millions without power and much devastation to homes across some states in the US.

For Halifax its a waiting game on when and or if this hurricaine is really going to hit! Its extremely windy so maybe just maybe we will have a glimpse of her yet ;)

I thought I would take a look at the EWR "Newark" airport departure and arrival board just for some stats on how many flights were to go in and out today. To my amazement there were quite a few! To be exact...There were to be just under 1000 departures alone from that airport, all in which had the horrific word next to it in red letters "Canceled". Arrivals had approximately the same number and the same word next to it "Canceled". How many of them actually took off and landed? 3 in total!

I'm sure the calls today flooding through airlines toll free numbers were absolute mayhem! Not to exclude the number of passengers who wanted to speak with a supervisor as they thought it would get them off the ground any sooner!I can just hear it all now, ***Business meeting in 5 hours! ***You will get me in the air today! ***That is no excuse!...Now make it happen.

~ I just cant wait until the day I'm on schedule changes! Bring some spice to my headset.

So.. Sitting here relaxing and wondering what will the next person want? Like I can predict the next call. Yea right! I definitely didn't see the last one coming considering she wanted to talk to my supervisor at the end of the call. Why?

~Just want to tell your supervisor you did a great job! What...Hold on you want to give me a Kudos? Ok...Hold for a second and DONT HANG UP! Haha. This dosent happen often. Less and less people want to spend the extra time to say thank you.

So the next call comes in and the man asks... Just wondering if I can book with Kenmore Air. Uhhh I don't know let me check. * Thinking its a dishwasher with jet fuel and wings * Nope its an actual airline but its these floater planes..Sorry sir its not available to be booked.

*** IF it were me I wouldnt fly them...***...Shivers up my spine!

Well... Heya

Whats it like? Lets see. Daily routine sorta throws itself out like this ;)

Waaaaake up! PANIC! Am I late for the first flight of the morning? Phew I guess not its leaving at 9am. Got to get on the road. Sit down in my leather chair and place my Plantronics headset on my head! Go to take a sip of my hot coffee and DING! The sound of a customer yawning while half asleep somewhere in the middle of Saskatoon.

Thank you for calling......and the conversation goes on......So let me get this correct. You want to travel from YXE ** For those of you wondering  HUH?? Its Saskatoon :) Travel industry jargon** and go to Orlando (MCO) on 25 SEP and return 7 days later. Sure thing! Here are your flights.... Credit of 593.65 per person will be paid on these flights and you will be responsible for the tax of $128.00 each. Here is your confirmation numbers XXXXXX and YYYYYY ;)

This wonderful process continues for approximately 4.5 hrs. Booking anything from First Class tickets for the rich from Vancouver to New York, hotels in Las Vegas, car rentals literally in the middle of nowhere...lol, to a family package at Disney for $6000. Ahhhh Lunch! 1 hour to clear my head, relax and get ready for the final take off until 5:30p

Do I enjoy what I do?? Definately. I get paid to travel all day! Start every morning in Halifax, and make my way to Vancouver, through NYC....Stop in Las Vegas and go for a ride at Disney. Gotta say this is one of the best careers there is!

***By the way it just hit Mid Night...So 16 more days until I board WestJet 229 to Honolulu (HNL)***
